HOW TO MAKE USE OF USED LAPTOP BATTERY TO DO POWER BANK

Laptop batteries have a life span of 2-3 years depending on how heavy used it experienced. This life span can be extended if you take a good care of the battery and never over charge it.

A laptop battery has 18650 lithium ion cell inside it that are connected in parallel and in series circuits connection forgiving out the wanted voltage.nowadays, most laptops or notebooks use the 4 cell battery which is much lighter as compared to 6 cell batteries

The laptop battery is installed  by a brilliant circuit which reports its health and the charges being stored by the battery. the circuit tells the Windows Operating system whenever the battery is getting low or needs to be replaced. For safety purpose this brilliant circuit discards the whole battery when ever a single cell refused to hold the charges or when it is weak.

more so, if your laptop's battery is not charging or working then don't throw it away you can use the Li-ion cells to make a power bank that can charge phones through any USB cables

                                                                              WARNING

Pls be aware of breaking or opening a laptop battery case is not an easy  job You have to be extra careful with the sealed casing. There is no means of opening it except cutting to open the battery casing. Make sure that you do it gently without puncture on the lithium ion cells. A punctured lithium ion cell can catch fire and may explode . So, before opening the pack yourself check out some help videos on YouTube to do it without mistaking or images.
youtube videos here of how to break the battery:

SETTING UP THE BATTERY                    Digital Multimeter.18650 lithium battery Cells extracted from laptop's battery.18650 charging circuit or a power bankcase.USB  cable Thin wires used for DC batteries (Red and Black)Soldering iron: pls be careful when using soldering iron If u are not professionally trained don't use it It's harmful

          TESTING THE BATTERY

Connect the red wire to the VΩmA and black wire to COM . turn the dial to '20 ' in DC Volt, connect the red Wire to the positive end of the battery and the black wire to the negative end of the battery read the meter if it is 3v Or above its OK. but if it is not, which means it is bad U remove it Repeat the process until u detect  the other good and bad ones.

Making up charger circuit Make sure you use 18650 battery charging circuit. The circuit board charges 18650 cell and it has Fully charged battery indicator and as well low battery Indicator.

WE HAVE TWO TYPES OF CONNECTIONS
Parallel and series connections

PARALLEL CONNECTION:
Means connecting positive+ to positive+, Negative- to negative-, and the output Across the positive Terminal and the negative terminal

SERIES CONNECTION:
Means connecting the positive+ to negetive-And the output across the positive+ terminal and the negetive

In these case we will advice to use parallel connection

                                                                          WARNING

The circuit doesn't have a reverse polarity protection. So if you connect the battery inreverse, means positive to negative and negative to positive then the circuit will burn. Use only black and red wire for connections.Red is for positive terminal and black is for negative terminal To charge the 18650 battery connected to the charging circuit permanently all you have to do is to connect USB charger to the circuit board. When you connect the USB cable then the light of any color will blinks on the circuit board which indicates charging has started. When the light stop blinking then it means that battery has fully charged and you can disconnect the cable.Charging may take several hours
